Brave New World’s remit was to create the first quintessential Brazilian lifestyle brand. We are equity partners in the Frescobol Carioca business and work on every aspect of creative direction, from the brand identity to designing swim and resort wear.
Frescobol Carioca has two stores in prime London locations, Marylebone and Soho. The brand is also represented by 250 top stockists around the world in exclusive stores such as Harrods, Le Bon Marché, Colette and Selfridges.
Redefining the Collection
Brave New World took the patterns of the famous Rio sidewalks such as Copacabana and Ipanema and transformed them into a unique set of graphics – first for the brand’s identity and then applied to a series of beachwear designs.
A Digital World
Frescobol Carioca’s website is designed to house all aspects of the brand – heritage, content, e-store, lookbook and social channels – in a seamless user journey. Sales are up year on year by 300 per cent.
Art Direction & Photography
On modest budgets and a ‘Carioca’ spirit we have endeavoured to create an evocative look that harks back to the halcyon days of Rio beach life in the 1940s and '50s, yet still offers a contemporary twist. Our creative work has the advantage of guidance from our co-equity partner, Mario Testino.
Redefining the store
For its two shops in Marylebone and Soho and pop-ups in Harrods, Selfridges, Colette, Joseph and Bluebird, we have striven to weave key elements of the brand – like the layered driftwood used to create the bats and boards, the photographic style and wavy sidewalk patterns – into the fabric of the stores.
